Sustainability Report

The Water Conservation and Management course is at the forefront of these efforts, providing students with a deep understanding of sustainable water resource practices.
Complementing this, the Environmental Chemistry course delves into the chemical processes that influence the environment, particularly focusing on the interactions that affect water quality. The study of Limnology further enhances the university’s contribution to SDG 6 by offering a comprehensive examination of freshwater ecosystems such as lakes, rivers, and wetlands.
In addition, courses such as Environmental Pollution focus on the broader environmental impacts of pollution, including its effects on water bodies. The Ecology course broadens this understanding by exploring the relationships between organisms and their environments, with a particular focus on the impact of human activities on natural systems.
Finally, Environmental Health and Safety addresses the critical intersection of human well-being and environmental stewardship.

UIN Raden Intan Lampung has implemented a water conservation program by constructing artificial ponds for water storage and fish maintenance. There are 11 artificial ponds on campus with a total area of 22,716 square meters (m2). There are 6,150 biopore infiltration holes located around the artificial pond and open spaces. These biopores contain organic waste such as leaves and small tree branches that will undergo decomposition and can be utilized as compost.

The Instagram post documenting the UKM KSE’s participation in a beach cleanup event with the Pandawara Group at Pantai Jl. Ikan Selar, Kecamatan Bumi Waras, Kota Bandar Lampung, can be directly linked to Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), which focuses on ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
SDG 6.3 emphasizes improving water quality by reducing pollution, minimizing the release of hazardous chemicals and materials, and substantially increasing water recycling and safe reuse globally. The event also raises awareness among the participants and the community about the importance of maintaining clean water and sanitation in coastal areas. By involving local groups like UKM KSE and the Pandawara Group, the initiative fosters community engagement in sustainable practices, which is vital for achieving the broader objectives of SDG 6.
