Sustainability Report

A range of courses align with the goals of SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), fostering sustainability and responsible management of resources. The Recycling Technology course teaches students the principles of recycling processes and their environmental impact, equipping them to design efficient recycling systems that contribute to sustainable waste management. In Waste Management, students learn to handle waste responsibly, focusing on reduction, reuse, and recycling strategies that minimize environmental harm. The Environmental Counseling course empowers students to guide communities and individuals in making eco-friendly decisions, promoting sustainable practices and resource conservation. Horticulture introduces sustainable growing techniques and plant management, encouraging responsible agricultural practices that reduce waste and improve food production. Ecotourism trains students to develop tourism strategies that emphasize conservation and minimize environmental impact, ensuring that tourism benefits both local communities and ecosystems. Environmental Pollution focuses on understanding and mitigating pollution, helping students develop solutions to reduce pollution in various ecosystems. Finally, Green Campus Management prepares students to implement sustainability initiatives within educational institutions, fostering environmentally responsible policies and practices.

Maggot House

Campus’s Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot rearing system tackles food waste from the campus canteen, dormitory, and other facilities by converting it into valuable resources. The reared maggots are used as sustainable feed for fish in campus ponds and as compost for campus gardens, reducing waste and promoting resource reuse. This initiative supports the university’s commitment to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by minimizing waste, promoting sustainability, and creating a closed-loop system that enhances environmental responsibility on campus.

Eco-enzyme production by student

The production of eco-enzymes by students at Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Intan Lampung is a significant initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability on campus. These eco-enzymes, made from organic waste materials, are applied to several lakes around the campus to improve water quality by reducing pollution and organic matter. This hands-on project not only helps in maintaining a healthier ecosystem within the campus but also serves as a practical learning experience for students in sustainable waste management.
